Paediatrics Physiotherapy
Pediatric physiotherapists treat children with neurological or developmental problems. The physiotherapist design recreational exercise programme that aims at maximizing potential and facilitate development, participation and independence. Emphasis is given to activities/exercises related to reaching specific milestones such as rolling, crawling and walking. Treatment is individualized, depending on the unique needs of each child and Family and may vary from hands-on treatment to advice, education, exercise prescription and consultation.
Apart from treating the child at physiotherapy centre, management of children with neurological deficits is holistic, family-centric with the goal of supporting and empowering both the child and their families at home, school, and in the community.
The assessment and treatment of younger children is play-based in order to engage and motivate children in the activity and achieve desired results.
Older children, adolescents and caregivers are encouraged to participate in identifying goals and formulating an effective treatment plan that will work for their unique situation.
Physiotherapy is of utmost importance in children if they are experiencing neurological problems, or fine or gross motor challenges related to growth and/or development.
The treatment is incorporated into simple everyday activities. Advice and training are provided so that the family can help and encourage the child to practice their physiotherapy program.
